| I arrived in Spain with a descent chance of moving up the rankings close, unfortunately two lapse's in concentration resulted in an early bath!
I was 8-5 up and cruising against Fazanes (who finished 5th) before losing 5 games in a row and the match. Amazingly I did exactly the same thing when leading Davettas 8-5 in my next match! |

| World & European Ranking - 30 October 2006 |
Am am currently ranked 60th on the WPA world ranking list and 40th on the European ranking list.
This is still based mainly on my 9th place finish in the World Straight Pool Championships, but my reasonable Euro Tour results have also helped.
I hope to break into the top 32 of the Euro Tour and pssibly the top 50 in the world after the next Euro Tour event in Malaga in December. |

| I arrived at Manchester airport a little late and little bit rough. I had spent the previous night in Manchester partying with an old friend so hadn't got much sleep.
I just managed to make the flight and I met Andy Worthington and Daryl Peach by chance at the gate. |

| I traveled overland to Holland because I had purchased the pool table that was being used for the final matches. I hadn't played much at all since finishing 9th in the world straight pool championships but I was defending my 33rd place finish from the previous year. |

| I arrived in Austria early after spending the night in a Stansted airport hotel for an early morning flight. I had spent spent most of the previous week in the USA playing in the world straight pool championships so I had hopes of doing well in Austria. Again I met a few of the British guys at the airport and we all caught a cab from the airport in Germany across the border to the club in Rankweil. |

| I only found out that I would be playing in this prestigious event 3 weeks before it was due to start. My 9 ball results during the last year had earnt me a place on the alternate list of players and fortunately somebody decided not to play. Only 64 players in the world would get the chance to be called the World Straight Pool Champion, 16 years since the last player, Bobby Hunter earnt that right.

| I flew into Germany for my 4th Euro Tour event with little practice behind but I was still hopeful of doing well. I started of with a 9:3 win against a greak player before missing a host of chances to lose against the always impressive Foldes. I won my next match 9:1 but then got some extrreemly bad roles against a very slow Swiss player losing 6:9. My European ranking jumped from 121st to 101st. |

| After having such a great time in Prague I decided to try my luck on the Italian leg of the Euro 9 Ball Tour. However this time I decided to a) take it more seriously and b) do a bit more travelling.
I flew to Trieste, Italy in the hope of catching a bus over the border into Slovenia and Croatia. However it was election day in Italy and the only way out of Trieste was a train to Ljubljana! |

| While visiting the UK for an extended stay I decided to play in my first UK pro tour event. I started my first match well against young Phil Burford to go 4:2 up but then played poorly to lose 7:5. I then got on a roll to win my next 3 matches quit comfortably to put me just one win away from making the last 32.
Ian West was my oponent, it was approaching midnight and it was the last match of the day. |

| While back in the UK to catch up with family I decided to fly to Prague to play on the Euro Tour. I also thought it was a good way to celebrate my 32nd birthday as this would be the 40th country I had visited.
The bad news was Prague isn't that far from Russia and it was the middle of winter! |

| I arrived at the US Open after 3 decent tournament results in a row. I was playing well and confident of doing well but sadly I had picked up my first ever pool injury! I pulled a muscle quite badly in my back/shoulder during the US Open warm up and I couldn't straighten my bridge arm properly. I was quite embarrassed by this injury as its not often a pool player gets injured but still decided to play. Sadly I struggled and lost my first two matches to BJ Ussery and Lee Holt. |

| After a finishing 17th in the World Summit of Pool in NYC I drove down to the US Open warm up event with Tony Crosby, Richard Broupton, and Ronnie Parks. I had a decent tournament beating some very good players and finishing 13th overall, however I will never forget my first match up with the one and only Earl the Pearl Strickland! |

| I flew to my NYC for a tournament I was really looking forward to. The World Summit of Pool was my first UPA event with a extreemly strong world class field. Previously it was held in Grand Central station but this year it was held in Slate Billiards club in Chelsea. Although I would have loved to have played in Grand Central slate turned out to be a great venue despite some initial fears. |

| After failing to qualify for the 2005 World Pool Championships in Taiwan I thought I would try my luck in the Korea International Open. I had never been to Korea before and since the event was only a short flight away in Seoul, I new I couldn't turn the chance to play pool and get another stamp in my passport. |

| I arrived in Sacramento in greyhound style with the rest of the Aussies. We had just spent a week in Reno where none of us had done particulary well. I was determined to do better in this event and I couldn't wait to drop my stuff at the hotel and get to the pool hall. I had been told that Hard Times Billiards in Sacramento was a fine pool hall and I wasn't dissapointed. |

| In 2005 the International VNEA 9 ball singles was run as a full blown event for the first time. In the previous years the final 128 players qualified by winning a mini tournament. 2004 was my first year playing in the VNEA and I came 5th in the 9 ball event, sadly miscuing on the hill in the quarter final. This year would be tough with over 500 runners and a larger entry fee. |

| I stepped of a plane from a long flight from Sydney to Las Vegas to enter only my second ever 9 ball competition. The event was played on bar boxes which made it very tough, but in addition in order to qualify for the finals each player had to win a 16 player mini tounrament. I managed to win one of the first (and most difficult) qualifying tournaments at my first attempt to book my place in the last 128. |

| In my first ever 9 ball event I drew Ian Barber, a BCA master in the first round. I won this and my next couple of matches before losing to my good friend Andrew Gillson (VNEA Master). This put me in the loser side and I had to face the prospect of having to come back to play snooker and 9 ball professional Johl Younger the next day! |
