I arrived in the UK after a few crazy weeks in the USA. I was really looking forward to watching the footy in the UK as opposed to Australia but I wasn't planning on flying to Portugal to use my tickets. I was running out of holidays from work and I was hoping to sell my tickets during my stay. However I missed my flight back to Oz and decided to take advantage of this bad luck by ctaching a last minute flight to Portugal to watch two Quarter Final matches.
Flights to Portugal where already hard to come by but when England set up a Quater final clash with the hosts, Portugal the price started to go through the roof! I was lucky enough to get a pretty cheap open jaw ticket flying into Faro near the ALgarve and out of Porto. This was pretty good as the two games I wanted to see where in Lisbon.
I spent the night in heathrow airport on the way out in order to catch an earlier flight which brought back many memories from my backpacking exploits. Then when I arrived in Faro I had to jump straight onto a bus for a 5 hour ride to Lisbon!.
By the time I arrived in Lisbon I was very tired but I couldn't find a hotel room for love or money. I was also running out of time to make it to the stadium to watch Germany v Czech, therefore I decided to leave my bags in left luggage and sort out a hotel after the game.

A few months ago I was lucky enough to get all the tickets I wanted for Euro 2004. I have category A tickets for Germany v Czech and two Quarter Final matches. Therefore I will be jetting off to Portugal to join up with the barmy army once again. I will probably stop in Portugal as part of a round the world trip as I'm hoping to play in a couple of big pool comps in Asia and the US. Last but not least I'll be back in blighty for a week or so and I'm very much looking forward to seeing some old friends in London and Grimsby. Its promises to be another crazy world tour, COME ON ENGLAND!
